• Social Studies

Course Overview:  At the beginning of fourth grade, students will learn about the importance of Social Studies - why do we study it?  Students will also review map skills and general New Jersey geography, as well as a look back in time at the Native Americans of New Jersey, the Lenni Lenape Indians.

Later in the year, fourth graders will study early American history through the eyes of New Jersey, spanning from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War, and ending with an in-depth study of immigration including the role of Ellis Island.
